Uniswap CEO Refutes $20 Million Protocol Deployment Bribe 🧐
Uniswap CEO Hayden Adams has challenged accusations that the decentralized exchange, known for trading ERC20 tokens on the Ethereum blockchain, accepts bribes for deploying protocols. Adams stated that neither Uniswap Labs nor the Uniswap Foundation charges for deployments, and decisions are made through governance votes.
These allegations surfaced after a user named Alexander claimed that Uniswap had bribed protocols with amounts up to $20 million. Adams refuted these claims as false and an attempt to bait engagement.
In 2022, the Celo Foundation proposed committing $10 million in CELO tokens and an additional $10 million in financial incentives to promote green use cases on Uniswap. This proposal was approved through a governance vote.
Uniswap recently settled with the US CFTC over allegations of illegal retail commodity transactions, paying $175,000 in fines. Amid these controversies, Uniswap's token (UNI) has seen a slight decrease in its market price.
