The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has disbanded its dedicated crypto enforcement task force, signaling a strategic shift in its approach to regulating digital assets. In its place, the SEC has outlined plans for a smaller cyber unit tasked with managing risks across various technological sectors. This change was announced by Acting SEC Chairman Mark Uyeda on 20 February 2025.

The formation of the "Cyber and Emerging Technologies" unit reflects the SEC's emphasis on adapting to the evolving landscape of technological innovations and potential threats beyond just cryptocurrencies.
