OKX to Tap from Europe’s 400 Million Market with MiCA Pre-Authorization 🇪🇺
OKX has secured pre-authorization under the EU's MiCA, making it the first global exchange to achieve this. This allows OKX to offer regulated crypto services to over 400 million Europeans through its EEA hub in Malta.
Malta's regulatory environment and technological infrastructure were key factors in this decision. OKX already holds a Class 4 VASP license from MFSA. Once fully licensed under MiCA, it can passport services across all EEA states.
OKX's announcement follows its partnership with Standard Chartered, focusing on institutional custody solutions. It highlights OKX's ambition to serve both retail and institutional customers under a fully regulated framework.
MiCA's implementation has faced challenges, including some exchanges delisting Tether's USDT. Yet, OKX's regulatory advancements underline its industry leadership and commitment to expansion.
